Green Credits Scheme

Guaguas Municipales will introduce a loyalty scheme to encourage citizens to adopt more sustainable lifestyle patterns. Points will be accumulated as rewards for using public transport and could be exchanged by products and services at a variety of places, such as shops, museums and theatres. This system will be supported by a Website and a mobile app.

Implementing sustainable mobility

Objectives:

  • Improvement of the perception about public transport and sustainable modes.
  • Reduction of noise, emissions and fuel consumption.
  • Increasing of public transport alternatives.
  • Introduction of an innovative green credit scheme at local level, based on a mobile application and web platform.
  • Involvement of at least 10 institutional and business partners.
  • Raise the awareness towards sustainable modes of transport.

How will this be achieved:

  • Guaguas Municipales will introduce a loyalty system to encourage citizens to adopt more sustainable lifestyle patterns by providing tangible economic rewards.
  • Points are accumulated as rewards for using public transport. Accumulated points can be used like cash to purchase products and services at a variety of places, such as shops, museums and theatres
  • The scheme is envisaged to contribute towards reducing the greenhouse gas emissions.
  • The green credit scheme will be supported by a Website and a mobile application.

 

How did the measure progress?

  • Study the current ticketing system of the urban public transport in order to choose the best kind of ticket bonus to set up a loyalty system.
  • After that, it has been contacted a Software development company to ask for the neccesary technological matters to develope the loyalty system.
  • Contribution to draft an inception report document collecting all the information of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria within WP6.
  • Attending WP6 webinars on 11/04/2017 and 10/07/2017
  • Contribution to draft the Deliverable D6.1 that details the results of the user needs analysis, the definition of service requirements and ITS specifications for Las Palmas de Gran Canaria WP6 demonstration measure.
  • In order to introduce a Green Credit scheme in Guaguas Municipales that will work as a loyalty system for urban public transport travelers, a kick of training for business model development was carried out in october 2017, and after that, successive meetings have been hold.
  • A benchmarking report was drafted to identify similar solutions (loyalty systems) in other transport companies worlwide that could support Guaguas Municipales to defined the comercial and operative solutions of the loyalty system due to technical solutions have already been identified.

What were the outcomes of the measure?

  • Green credits scheme.
  • At least 10 institutions/shops/organizations involved.
