Filippoi is a municipality of 10,800 inhabitants, located near the ruins of the ancient city of Philippi in the Kavala prefecture in east Macedonia, Greece, 160 km east of Thessaloniki. The city aims to find balance between attractive transport (including car infrastructure) and protection of built heritage.

This has resulted in a local sustainable urban transport plan, the main targets of which include the establishment of a basic transport information system for tourists and the development of public transport for commuters and old people wishing to access the city center.

Filippoi is working on the implementation of sustainable urban transport measures in cooperation with the University of Thessaly in Volos.
